West Texas A&M And Texas Tribune Hosts Panel On Rural Healthcare

Rural HealthCare will be the topic of an event hosted by West Texas A&M University, partnering with the Texas Tribune.

The “Underserved: A Conversation on Rural Health” event will include discussion on Medicare accessibility and healthcare training.

The Texas Tribune says that currently  80 Texas counties have five doctors or fewer, and 30 have no doctors at all.

Speaking on the event’s panel will be:

Mike Henderson, Childress family medicine doctor

Texas State Rep. Ken King, R-Canadian

Holly Jefferys, founder of Panhandle Family Care

Billy Phillips, executive VP of rural and community health, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

Corrie MacLaggan, managing editor, Texas Tribune as moderator

The event will be held in Legacy Hall at the WT campus at 11:30 a.m.

It is free and open to the public.
