Astros, Cole Beat Yankees In ALCS Game Three

(Bronx, NY) — Gerrit Cole weaved his way in and out of trouble, pitching seven scoreless innings as the Astros beat the Yankees 4-1 in Game Three of the American League Championship Series in New York. Cole walked five, but stranded nine runners in the first five innings. Jose Altuve and Josh Reddick hit solo homers for Houston. The ‘Stros tacked on two more in seventh to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Nationals Sweep Cardinals To Win NL Pennant

(Washington, DC) — The Nationals are headed to their first World Series. They completed a sweep of the Cardinals with a 7-4 win in Game Four of the National League Championship Series in D.C. Washington scored all seven runs in the first inning. Howie Kendrick was named NLCS MVP. The Nats will face either the Astros or Yankees in the Fall Classic.

MLB Keeping Tabs On Weather For Game Four

(Bronx, NY) — Major League Baseball is monitoring today’s forecast for Game Four of the ALCS tonight at Yankee Stadium. The Weather Channel predicts a 100 percent chance of rain, while the National Weather Service calls it 90 percent. Commissioner Rob Manfred says they don’t want to affect the competitive complexion of the series or have fans come out if they are unable to play. Both teams will likely deploy a bullpen game tonight if they play.

Cowboys Face Eagles On Sunday

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they host the Eagles on Sunday night. First-place is at stake in the NFC East, although both teams are struggling at 3-and-3. Dallas fell 24-22 to the Jets, while Philly is coming off a 38-20 loss at Minnesota. The Cowboys placed defensive end Tyrone Crawford on the injured reserve as he will need season-ending hip surgery.

Texans Will Face Colts Next

(Houston, TX) — The Texans are preparing for a Sunday matchup with the Colts in Indianapolis. Houston will try to win its third straight after triumphs over the Chiefs and Falcons the last two weeks. Houston is 4-and-2, while the Colts are 3-and-2. Multiple-outlets report the Texans have added 6-foot-10 offensive tackle Dan Skipper to the 53-man roster, signing him off the Patriots’ practice squad. Houston starting right tackle Tytus Howard is out with a partially torn MCL.

Stars Face Blue Jackets Tonight

(Columbus, OH) — The Stars are on the road tonight to face the Blue Jackets in Columbus. Dallas started the season with Stanley Cup-expectations, but are off to a 1-5-and-1 start. The Stars have scored only one goal in 22 power plays.

Mavs Play Final Exhibition Game Tomorrow

(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks will play their final preseason game tomorrow night when they meet the Clippers in the NBA Canada Series in Vancouver. Dallas will tip off the regular season next Wednesday hosting the Wizards.

Rockets Home Against Spurs Tonight

(Houston, TX) — The Rockets continue their preseason tonight hosting the San Antonio Spurs. The Rockets went 1-and-1 in two games with the Raptors last week in Japan. Houston will conclude its exhibition slate on Friday at the Heat.

FC Dallas In Playoff Game Saturday

(Seattle, WA) — FC Dallas will play at the Seattle Sounders on Saturday afternoon in a first-round game in the MLS playoffs. Dallas earned the last playoff berth in the Western Conference, finishing seventh with 48 points. Seattle placed second with 56 points. It’s a single-elimination game with the winner advancing.

Renegades Pick Badet First In XFL Draft

(Undated) — The Dallas Renegades selected wide receiver Jeff Badet, who played three seasons at Kentucky and had 26 catches for 400 yards as a graduate transfer at Oklahoma with their first pick in the XFL Draft. Also, former Sooners quarterback Landry Jones was assigned to the Renegades. Former OU coach Bob Stoops is the Renegades’ head coach and general manager.

College Football Round Up

(Undated) — In college football Saturday, number-15 Texas will host Kansas, number-18 Baylor will be at Oklahoma State for a Big 12 game, number-19 and unbeaten SMU will host Temple, TCU will be at Kansas State, Texas A&M travels to Ole Miss, North Texas will host Middle Tennessee and Texas Tech will welcome Iowa State to Lubbock. West Texas A&M will host Angelo State.
