Tuesday Sports Update – Sod Poodles Host Texas League Championship At Hodgetown

(Amarillo, Tx) – The 2019 South Division Champion Amarillo Sod Poodles will host the first two games of the 2019 Texas League Championship Series against the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Tulsa Drillers, on Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
Following the two games at HODGETOWN, the remainder of the championship series will be played at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, OK.

Rangers Start Six Game Homestand Tonight

(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers will try to win their fifth straight when they host the Tampa Bay Rays tonight to open a three-game series. Lance Lynn will start for Texas in the first game opposite Tampa Bay’s Ryan Yarbrough. Lynn is 0-and-4 in his last six starts. The Rangers will wrap up this homestand with three games against the Oakland Athletics. Our pregame coverage begins this eveing at 7 on 710AM and 97.5FM KGNC.

Astros Blast Seven Homers, Crush A’s

(Houston, TX) — Robinson Chirinos homered twice and drove in six runs as the Astros pounded seven homers to rout the Athletics 15-0 in Houston. The ‘Stros have scored 36 runs in their last two games. Yordan Alvarez also hit two homers, and Alex Bregman Michael Brantley also reached the seats. Zack Greinke allowed two singles over six innings for his 15th win. Houston has won five straight.

Cowboys Healthy For Week Two

(Frisco, TX) — Head coach Jason Garrett says the Cowboys came out of Sunday’s win over the Giants relatively healthy. Randall Cobb has a rib issue and Jeff Heath a thigh bruise. Garrett was noncommittal whether Ezekiel Elliott would get more than 34 snaps this Sunday at the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys limited his time against the Giants after holding out for 40 days.

Texans Lose On Long Field Goal As Time Expires

(New Orleans, LA) — Wil Lutz kicked a 58-yard field goal on the final play to lift the Saints to a 30-28 win over the Texans in New Orleans. Deshaun Watson connected on a 37-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Stills with 37 seconds left as Houston took a 28-27 lead. Watson completed 20-of-30 passes for three touchdowns and ran for another on a 21-yard gallop, but was sacked six times and tossed one interception. DeAndre Hopkins had eight receptions for 111 yards, including two for touchdowns. The Texans are home this Sunday against the Jaguars.

Raiders Hold Off Broncos In Oakland

(Oakland, CA) — The Raiders opened their final season in Oakland with a 24-16 win over the division-rival Broncos at the Coliseum. Derek Carr was 22-of-26 for 259 yards and a touchdown and was not sacked. Josh Jacobs rushed for 85 yards and two scores on the ground. Joe Flacco passed for 268 yards and a touchdown for Denver in defeat.

Stars Open Training Camp Friday

(Frisco, TX) — The Stars open training camp on Friday. Joel Kiviranta, a 23-year-old from Finland, had a hat trick for Dallas over the weekend in the NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan and is looking to make the jump right into the NHL. The Stars will play their initial preseason game next Monday against the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues at American Airlines Center.

FC Dallas Hosts Chicago Fire

(Frisco, TX) — FC Dallas will host the Chicago Fire on Saturday for their first September game after the International break. FC Dallas holds the seventh and final playoff spot with 43 points, one ahead of the LA Galaxy. Portland and Salt Lake also have 43 points.

College Football Roundup

(Undated) — In college football action this Saturday, number-13 Texas will be at Rice, TCU will play at Purdue, and number-15 Texas A&M hosts Lamar. The Aggies have lost starting running back Jashaun Corbin for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, which he suffered in the loss at Clemson last Saturday. SMU will entertain Texas State looking to start the season 3-and-0. North Texas will play at Cal, while Texas Tech plays its first road game at Arizona. Baylor has the week off. West Texas A&M will be on the road at William Jewell in Liberty, Missouri.
