Friday Sports Update – Mavericks Bury Trail Blazers

(Portland, OR) — The Mavericks used 22 three-point field goals as they buried the Trail Blazers 133-125 in Portland. Luka Doncic led the way with 27 points. Kristaps Porzingis added 20 for Dallas, which improves to 28-and-16. The Mavericks will visit the Utah Jazz tomorrow.

Mavs’ Doncic Named All-Star Starter

(New York, NY) — Luka Doncic is finally an NBA All-Star. The second-year pro has been named an All-Star Starter from the Western Conference pool. He will be selected by either Team LeBron or Team Giannis. At 20-years-old, Doncic is the youngest All-Star Starter since LeBron in 2005.

Rockets At Timberwolves Tonight

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Rockets will be back in action tonight. Houston will visit the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Rockets are coming off a 121-105 win over the Nuggets at home. Houston is 27-and-16.

Rockets’ Harden Named All-Star Starter

(New York, NY) — James Harden is going back to the NBA All-Star Game. Harden was voted in as a Western Conference Starter. He’ll enter the starter pool and will be drafted by Team LeBron or Team Giannis. The All-Star Game is February 16th in Chicago.

(St. Louis, MO) — NHL All-Star Weekend begins tonight in St. Louis. The skills competition will take place tonight while the All-Star Game will take place tomorrow. Tyler Seguin will represent the Stars in St. Louis.

Bradley, Cappelen Lead Farmers Insurance Open; Tiger Three Back

(La Jolla, CA) — Keegan Bradley and Sebastian Cappelen share the lead after the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open, while Tiger Woods is just three shots back. Bradley and Cappelen both carded six-under 66’s in Thursday’s opening round at Torrey Pines. Woods fired a three-under 69 and is tied for 21st place. Rory McIlroy is among a large group tied for third at five-under. Ryan Palmer played the tougher south course, shot even par and is tied for 71st. Ryan plays the north course today.

49ers, Chiefs Arrive In Miami Sunday

(Miami, FL) — Super Bowl 54 is quickly approaching. The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will land in Miami on Sunday to prep for the big game. The ‘Niners are chasing the sixth Super Bowl title in franchise history, while the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years. Supper Bowl Opening Night is Monday.

Texas Football Adds Three Non-Conference Games

(Austin, TX) — Texas football is adding three non-conference games to its future schedules. Texas is adding contests against Louisana-Monroe, Texas State and Wyoming. The games are for the 2022, 2023 and 2026 seasons.

(Rochester, NY) — A New York teen’s petition to move the Super Bowl to Saturday is going viral. Nearly 20-thousand people have signed the Change-dot-org petition that Frank Ruggeri started. The 16-year-old suggested the idea to his parents. Millions of Americans call out sick on the day after the Super Bowl. Analysts claim the big game costs employers nearly three-billion-dollars. Some have proposed making the Monday following the Super Bowl a national holiday.
