Friday Sports Update – Astros One Win Away From World Series

(Bronx, NY) — The Astros beat the Yankees 8-3 in Game Four to seize control of the American League Championship Series. Houston leads the series three games to one and is one win away from going to the World Series. George Springer and Carlos Correa blasted three-run homers for Houston. Zack Greinke was removed in the fifth inning, allowing one run on three hits and four walks, while striking out five. Ryan Pressly struck out two to end the fifth with the bases loaded to pick up the win.

Verlander Starts Tonight For Yankees

(Bronx, NY) — Justin Verlander will start tonight for the Astros against the Yankees in Game Five of the American League Championship Series in New York. Left-hander James Paxton will start for the Yanks, who face elimination. If the Astros win, they’ll advance to the World Series against the Nationals. If the Yankees win, the series will shift to Houston tomorrow.

Cowboys Tackles Return To Practice

(Frisco, TX) — Cowboys starting tackles Tyron Smith and La’el Collins returned to practice as limited participants. Both missed the loss last Sunday to the Jets with ankle and knee injuries and will be game-time decisions against the Eagles. Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper is planning on practicing today. He has been held out of earlier drills with an ankle injury and bruised thigh.

Cowboys Face Eagles On Sunday

(Arlington, TX) — The Cowboys will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they host the Eagles on Sunday night. First-place is at stake in the NFC East, although both teams are struggling at 3-and-3. Dallas will try to avoid its first four-game losing streak since 2015. The Eagles are 6-and-4 at AT&T Stadium. Chiefs Blow Out Broncos On TNF

(Denver, CO) — The Chiefs blew out the Broncos 30-6 on Thursday Night Football in Denver, but lost starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the process. He left the game in the second quarter with a right knee injury and was replaced by veteran Matt Moore. KC snapped a two-game skid to improve to 5-and-2. Joe Flacco was sacked eight times as Denver dipped to 2-and-5.

Chiefs’ Mahomes Suffers Dislocated Patella, To Have MRI

(Denver, CO) — The Chiefs expect to learn more today about the severity of Patrick Mahomes’ injured right knee. He limped off the field in the second quarter of last night’s win in Denver and was quickly ruled out. NFL Network reports Mahomes suffered a patella dislocation. He’s scheduled to have an MRI today to determine whether there is any ligament damage in the knee.

Kansas Speedway To Host NASCAR Series Sunday

(Kansas City, KS) — The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be coming to Kansas City Speedway Sunday for the Hollywood Casino 400. The field will be trimmed from 12 to eight at KC. Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson have secured spots in the next round with their victories the past two weeks. Drivers on the bubble include Clint Bowyer, Chase Elliott, William Byron and Alex Bowman.

Struggling Stars Play Tonight In Pittsburgh

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The Dallas Stars will try to snap a four-game losing streak when they play the Penguins tonight in Pittsburgh. The Stars remain on the road tomorrow night, playing the Flyers in Philadelphia. The Stars are 1-6-and-1 and return home Monday to meet Ottawa.

Mavericks Win Exhibition Finale

(Miami, FL) — The Rockets will wrap up their preseason tonight when they play the Heat in Miami. The deadline to set their roster is Monday. The Rockets will tipoff the NBA season on Thursday, hosting the Bucks.

FC Dallas In Playoff Game Tomorrow

(Seattle, WA) — FC Dallas will play at the Seattle Sounders tomorrow afternoon in a first-round game in the MLS playoffs. Dallas earned the seventh and final playoff berth in the Western Conference with 48 points. Seattle placed second with 56 points. It’s a single-elimination game with the winner advancing.
